Customers have two main choices when choosing a custom closet organizing system in New Jersey. One is white wire ventilated shelving and the other is a solid surface system which is offered in a variety of colors and styles.
Wire has a low price to install, can be installed by a homeowner who is handy with tools and is readily available from The Home Depot, Lowes, Closet MAID, Rubbermaid or Schulte, typically offers no flexibility, no drawers and extremely limited accessories.
• Wire gets sticky over time (Plastic material breaks down)
• Wire has the potential of falling if installed incorrectly
• The plastic brackets decay and crack over time causing catastrophic failure (Inherent in the product as its structure uses plastic to support hundreds of pounds of clothes)
• Not adjustable as moving shelves will create holes in sheetrock
• Leaves folded clothes wrinkled (Wire indentation)
• The dust settles on your hanging clothes instead of the solid shelf above
• If installed by your builder you are typically wasting 50% of your closet
• Does not contribute to an increase in the resale value of your home
Builders use it because it is cheap, requires no interaction from the homeowner to install and did I mention it is cheap.
• You can increase your storage space by 100% if you customize your closet with a professional custom closet organizer
• Fully adjustable, allowing you to convert shelves to hanging and vice versa once the closet is installed with no damage to system or sheetrock
• Does not leave clothes wrinkled as folded clothes are sitting on a solid shelf
• Shoe heals do not fall through shelves
• Full extension drawers, hampers
• Hi quality accessories to maximize your storage needs
• Contributes to a higher home resale value
You might say, if Custom Closets using solid surface material are so great, where is the downside? Custom closets could be more of an investment over the cost of a wire installation depending on what you are looking to have installed. Are drawers and doors a requirement? If so, this can increase the investment of the project. However, if you need drawers in the closet the investment is offset by the furniture that you are not going to need in the bedroom. Notice how I said Custom Closets are an investment and wire is a cost. Look at the example below:
Wire provides absolutely nothing to the value of your home especially down the road when you are looking to sell. If you are one of a few homes in your development that are up for sale the custom kitchen, organized master closets and bathrooms will set you apart from other similar homes leading to a quicker home sale.
In summary, you will never have buyer’s remorse when organizing your closets with solid surface. Out of the thousands of closets we organize I never had a customer say “I don’t know why I had this done!” They always say “Why did I wait so long!” Approximately 90% of our business is removing customers existing wire to install a professionally organized custom closet.
